Being Together

Social Skills

In addition to, or as a standard part of, our individualized ABA therapy programs, we are pleased to offer daily play and social skills groups that are designed to meet the needs of clients across developmental levels, ranging in age from 2 to 17 years old. These groups are integrated into the treatment schedule for children receiving:

Comprehensive ABA Therapy

(approximately 30 hours per week)

Focused ABA Therapy

(approximately 20 hours per week)

Targeted ABA Therapy

(approximately 20 hours per week)

Each client participating in these services is assigned a dedicated 1:1 therapist, who may be a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA), or Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), depending on the child’s needs and the scope of services being provided.

Prior to participation, each child receives a comprehensive clinical assessment to determine their current levels of functioning and areas of need. These assessments may include, but are not limited to:

The Assessment of Basic Language and Learning Skills (ABLLS-R)

The Assessment of Functional Living Skills (AFLS)

The Socially Savvy Social Skills Assessment

These tools allow us to systematically identify strengths and deficits across multiple social-communication domains. Individualized programming is then developed and implemented based on assessment outcomes, incorporating evidence-based interventions to address each child’s unique needs. Treatment approaches may include:

  • Peer-mediated social skills interventions

  • Video modeling

  • Behavior Skills Training (BST)

  • Natural Environment Teaching (NET)

  • Structured teaching formats such as role-play, social scripts, and guided practice

Story Time

Social Skills

Social skills development is recognized as one of the core areas of impairment in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), alongside communication deficits and restricted or repetitive behaviors. As such, the treatment of social skills deficits is considered medically necessary, and participation in these services typically falls within the scope of benefits covered by insurance policies that authorize ABA therapy.

To initiate services and ensure your child’s place on our waitlist, we kindly ask that an intake form be completed through our website. This allows us to formally open a file for your child and track their status on our intake list.

Please note that specific recommendations regarding service intensity (i.e., number of hours per week) are made only after a full assessment is completed. However, if your child’s primary area of need is focused on social skills acquisition, a hypothetical schedule may include sessions Monday through Thursday from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The final treatment schedule will always be tailored to your child’s individualized needs following assessment and consultation with the clinical team.

We are happy to answer any additional questions or provide further details as you move forward in the process.
